Monday through Friday - 8am to 5pm
$45hr to $70hr depending on experience
Busy clinic focusing on culturally sensitive and evidence-based therapy and assessment, where each client receives personalized treatment programs and collaboration between families and therapists, is seeking a Speech Language Pathologist to join their team in Glendale.
Summary: Seeking a compassionate and skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our private practice and provide speech therapy services to adults in their homes. The SLP will work with patients recovering from surgery, illness, injury, or managing chronic conditions that impact their communication, swallowing, cognitive-communication, and functional abilities. The ideal candidate will be experienced in adult home health, have strong assessment and therapeutic skills, and possess a passion for helping patients regain independence and improve their quality of life.
Responsibilities:
Patient Evaluation & Assessment:
- Conduct thorough assessments for adult patients with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders.
- Evaluate patients’ cognitive-linguistic abilities, speech articulation, voice production, fluency, language comprehension, and swallowing function.
- Utilize standardized assessments and clinical observations to determine appropriate diagnosis, treatment goals, and plans of care.
- Collaborate with family members, caregivers, and other healthcare providers (e.g., physicians, nurses) to gather relevant patient history and develop a holistic treatment approach.
Treatment Planning & Implementation:
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment results, patient goals, and the clinical presentation of speech, language, or swallowing deficits.
- Provide therapy sessions tailored to the patient’s specific needs, such as speech rehabilitation, language exercises, cognitive rehabilitation, and strategies for safe swallowing (dysphagia management).
- Implement evidence-based treatment approaches to improve functional communication, cognitive skills, and/or swallowing abilities.
- Set realistic short-term and long-term goals and monitor progress towards achieving them.
Home-Based Care:
- Provide speech therapy services in the patient’s home environment, adapting therapy techniques to the home setting and the patient’s lifestyle.
- Educate and train family members or caregivers on strategies and exercises to support communication and swallowing therapy outside of scheduled sessions.
- Ensure that the therapy environment is safe, comfortable, and conducive to the patient’s participation and progress.
- Work with patients to implement strategies for improving daily communication, including social communication, functional speech, and swallowing safety.
Qualifications:
- Experience with specific patient populations, individuals with aphasia, dementia, or motor speech disorders.
- Certification in dysphagia management, brain injury rehabilitation, or other specialized areas of speech therapy.
- Bilingual skills (Armenian or other languages) are a plus.
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Active state licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP).
- Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in adult speech therapy, preferably in a home health setting.
- Strong clinical and assessment skills, with the ability to develop and implement effective treatment plans.
- Proficiency in treating dysphagia (swallowing disorders), speech and language disorders, cognitive deficits, and voice disorders.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and their families.
- Ability to work independently, with strong time management and organizational skills.
- Experience using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices or strategies, as needed.
- Familiarity with documentation software and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
